Grimbo, predator calling is a passion of mine. The calls I use are designed to imitate the distress cries of animals such as rabbits, deer, fawns, etc; but deer often respond to these same calls.
Grimbo, I don’t know how it is on your side of the pond, but over here predator calls are pretty much a dime a dozen. I have a cigar box full of them. Many of them look much like your crow call, but are tuned to produce different sounds. Open reed, closed reed, and some custom made calls that are made from fancy colored wood. Also electronic callers that produce recorded sounds either on audio tape or digitally. Mouth blown calls can be had for about $10, more for the fancy ones. Some of the electronic callers can be quite expensive, running into the hundreds of dollars.
The fascinating thing about predator calling is you can never be sure what might turn up. I’ve called coyotes, foxes, bobcats, cougars, bears, and a host of birds such as hawks, eagles, owls, ravens, etc, etc. Surprisingly non-predators such as deer and rabbits sometimes come to the call. These days I call mostly to the camera unless a certain predator preying on domestic birds or animals needs to be eliminated.

any chance of you posting any pics of your callers?,how much sucess rate do you have?And are you using callers to hunt?thanks ..
