By barking like he did,he set of a different song especially for the birds,they were quiet,except for the crows of course,they are currently squabbling amoungst themselves in this particuliar woodland,but the blue tits if you listen carefully started to pip,pip,a warning call amoungst themselves,This started a chain of pips around the area.. when in the woods etc learn the base tone then you will notice the overtures etc..i will someday do a video on this...(MAYBE)..
Ok, I just played it again. Had to pay attention in order to hear the bush tits. Of course the first time around I was more interested in hearing the roe buck, and what he sounded like. Hard to miss the crows. :) The deer where I live (Pacific Black Tail) will stamp with their front feet and snort, bucks and does alike, but it can't be heard from much distance away. I hear it mostly when I am blowing a predator call, which may sound to them like a fawn in trouble.
A buck around the rut time will do as you describe,ive had one dig up earth stamp his feet etc,but what i love is their curiosity,they will always come nearer and nearer,but when he is full of testostorne a bit dangerous..Another point to look for is nose licking,wetting the nose for a better scent,and the head bowing,sniffing the air at different heights..A deers nose is most effective at about 15 degrees celcuis. learn your prey...

Very educational. The deer we have here don't bark like that. Sure can hear the crows or ravens in the background. :)
