bits and pieces

I made a rabbits foot key ring,the foot is inserted into a roe deer antler,i used my recently made pine glue to stick it in,its holding well,i would think being a natural product it adhered well with the antler and bone...
I made a video of the birch tree showing razor strop and birch tree uses..
Ive managed to pick up a well established route that roe deer use,ive been successful in following some tracks,but i havent got enough time yet to persue them further,i must dedicate a day to this in the future...heres a video with me following the slots ..enjoy the music..

shelter tripod

i use this method in my larger shelters...the tripod has different levels,this is used to suspend pots,dry fire wood,smoke meats,and cure furs etc...the tripod goes all the way to the roof..

wire cage squirrel trap

this is just a rolled chicken wire with a chicken wire inlet...the squirrel goes in gets confused and cant find its way out..

another walking stick

ok,you guessed it ,i like walking sticks....
this one was a different project for me...ive been searching for a twisty(a stick thats being crushed by honeysuckle usually),the sapling or branch will eventually die,so i feel good that im able to get it to live through me...ive had a few twistys,but eventually give them away etc...so searching for one has been quite time consuming,it has to be right,ie straight,or not to bent,and really suitable for a walking stick...so i found a good one...after studying it at home,i thought i could carve something out of it...now ive never carved in my life i cant,but i did produce a carving,not sure what it is,but i see it as the spirit of the stick...so i call it a woodland spirit....

pine resin glue

made some pine resin glue today,as my stocks were low and i had come across a new supply of resin..

warmer

having a much warmer spell of weather,this is encouraging new growth everywhere...although i still dont trust it as the blackthorns blossoms are not out yet...managed to dig through my bolt hole side wall,so i can start making a fire place inside,hopefully the hole will act as an air hole and smoke hole,but its all experimental yet..

just thought id make an arrow,to complement the hunting head...i only used a flint to cut the feathers and used a crushed brick for the dye.

spring is more and more evident,i am picking up more signs of the roe deer,even the bird song is more abundent..the pine woods had groups of tree creepers today..heres a video of the woodland sounds i heard today,set with a few pics...

signs and new trap

ramsons are around.saw evidence of a bager fight this morning.Ive started alking around more rather than staying in my camp area,ive done most things to prepare it,but i want to visit old places,see spring coming in,the deer are moving around more,in relationship to the lunar cycle and the vernal equinox,see scat today in the pine woods..spent a bit of time at the camp made asquirrel trap out of the chicken wire thats lying around,just have to bait it probarly with bird nuts.
